WARNING: Always disconnect the negative battery terminal before inspecting or replacing fuses to prevent electrical shorts or injury. Use the correct amperage fuse replacement.
Locating the Fuse Boxes
The 2005 Dodge Magnum has two primary fuse/relay boxes:
- Underhood Power Distribution Center (PDC): Located near the battery in the engine compartment. This contains high-amperage fuses and relays for major systems.
- Interior Integrated Power Module (IPM): Located at the driver's side end of the dashboard. Access requires opening the driver's door and removing the cover panel next to the dash. This contains fuses and relays for most interior and accessory circuits.
Essential Fuse Sources (2005 Magnum)
- Owner's Manual: The most accurate source. Look under "Fuses" or "Maintenance and Specifications". Dedicated sections exist for both the PDC and IPM.
- Fuse Box Lids: Both the PDC and IPM lids have diagrams printed on them showing fuse locations and amperages. The IPM lid diagram is complex; look carefully.

Systematic Troubleshooting Steps
- Identify Symptoms: Pinpoint the exact non-functioning circuit(s).
- Consult the Diagram: Use the Owner's Manual or Fuse Box Lid diagram for the relevant box (IPM or PDC). Note specific fuse numbers and amperage.
- Locate the Fuse: Check the designated slot in the correct box. Pay attention to orientation (diagram vs reality).
- Check Visually/Test: Remove the fuse and inspect the thin metal strip inside the plastic body. If broken or discolored, the fuse is blown. Use a multimeter for continuity test if visual is unclear.
- Replace Correctly: Always replace with a fuse of the identical amperage rating (color code helps). Never use a higher amp fuse or bypass the fuse.
- Retest: After replacement, test the circuit. If it blows again immediately, a short circuit exists downstream – professional diagnosis is required.
Relays: If a fuse related to a relay-protected circuit blows, the relay itself could be faulty. Key relays (like Blower Motor, Starter) are located in the same boxes. Refer to the diagram labels ending in "Relay".
