The fuse box in a 1999 Ford Mustang is divided into two main sections: the Passenger Compartment Fuse Panel and the Power Distribution Box.
Passenger Compartment Fuse Panel
Located behind the passenger side kick panel, near the lower right corner of the dash, just right of the glovebox:
- Access: Open the passenger door.
- Identification: Pull the trim panel inward to release plastic retainers.
Power Distribution Box
Located under the hood on the driver's side, near the firewall and brake master cylinder:

- Access: Pull upwards on the cover release latches to remove the cover.
- Contains: High-amperage fuses, fusible links, and relays vital for major circuits (engine, headlights, cooling fan).
Important Notes:
- Diagram Location: A diagram identifying each fuse slot and its function is printed on the inside of the cover for both fuse boxes.
- Function: The Passenger Compartment Panel contains fuses for interior accessories (windows, radio, instrument cluster). The Power Distribution Box handles heavy electrical loads.
